Past Initiatives

Community Healthcare System's Cardiovascular Research Foundation sponsored a FREE presentation, "The Heart of a Woman," by Oprah Winfrey's cardiologist Annabelle Volgman, M.D., F.A.C.C. this past February during Heart Awareness month at St. Mary Medical Center. Dr. Volgman's presentation included reasons why heart disease is an issue for women, how women are affected differently from men, how related health risks are identified, and treatment.

With 23 years of professional experience, Dr. Annabelle Volgman has become a premier voice in the fight for women's heart health. Dr. Volgman is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Medical Director of the Heart Center for Women at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. She has been an investigator in a number of clinical studies and her primary research interests include new drugs for atrial fibrillation and the use of non-invasive techniques to predict recurrence of atrial fibrillation. In addition, she is also very active in the American Heart Association serving on the board of the Metro-Chicago and has been the Medical Chairwoman for the Women's Legacy Luncheon and American Heart Association Go Red Luncheon.

The Cardiovascular Research Foundation is a non-profit organization that works with Community Healthcare System to improve the heart health of our community.
