Wound Clinic, St. Mary Medical Center
I'm a nurse practitioner in the Wound/Continence/Ostomy Center of St. Mary Medical Center. I've worked here for five years now. While employed at St. Mary's, the wound clinic has grown to accommodate a schedule from two days per week to a full five days.
I feel that there is job stability, friendliness between co-workers and good communication between administrators and staff that make it a good place to work. There's room for advancement. I did obtain certification as a wound, continence and ostomy nurse during my first year of employment.
For the first 23 years of my nursing career, I worked for another local hospital system – as a staff nurse, assistant nurse manager and as a nurse practitioner in Occupational Health.
The biggest difference I noticed when I started working for St. Mary Medical Center was how friendly the staff is and it seems more like "family" than just co-workers helping each other out. Co-workers even support one another financially, during times of need, which really shows caring above and beyond – it makes for a strong bond.
