Occupational Therapist, St. Catherine Hospital
I've worked at St. Catherine Hospital for about two years as an occupational therapist. Higher education is required for the position. I had to complete a master's degree in occupational therapy in order to be an OT, which consists of a bachelor's degree then 2-1/2 years of graduate school.
Family members referred me to St. Catherine's and I've found they were right. It's a good place to work because we work together as a team and everyone is willing to help each other out without question. Not only do you get to utilize your experience and skills, but you also learn from one another and expand your knowledge as a healthcare provider.
I encouraged my friend to apply for a rehab technician position and he did apply. He now works PRN for the rehab unit. I explained to him how this job opportunity could enhance his career by exposing him to a wide variety of patient diagnoses, patient care, medical terminology/documentation and interacting/communication with the doctors and staff. I also explained to him how our team is a collaborative group; we work well with one another to provide patient safety and care.
