Bob Boby, R.N.,
BSN EMS Manager, St. Mary Medical Center

Three generations of my family have been born at St. Mary Medical Center. "It's been with me all my life." I moved away from the area for a short time. When I was in Florida, I trained as an EMT. I wanted to change careers and get into healthcare. My wife and I were from the area and after I got my R.N., we moved back closer to family. It made sense.

I've been working for St. Mary Medical Center for eight and a half years. I started out as a staff nurse. I found out that the employees here are recognized for hard work. I was given the option to be the EMS coordinator and I took administration up on it, based on my past experience and the fact that it really interested me. I'm the EMS manager now. We conduct EMS training sessions twice a year. While I was working, I took advantage of tuition reimbursement program and finished my paramedic studies with Superior ambulance. We're currently working on accreditation of our paramedic program.

I have recommended Community Healthcare System to friends as a good place to work. My friend, Melissa Baumgardner, a nurse, did apply for a job in the ED and now works in the ICU.

St. Mary's helped me finish school and the benefits are excellent. But, I have to say the staff is what really makes it special.
