Jennifer Walczak, R.N.
6 West, St. Mary Medical Center
Growing up in Hobart, I came to St. Mary Medical Center to visit family members and friends who were sick and needed care. That's when I first became interested in nursing as a career.
I've worked for St. Mary Medical Center for nine and a half years, now. When I first started working here, I was a Nurse Fellow. I decided to stay after graduation and am now an R.N. I also am a charge nurse on the 3 p.m. to 11 a.m. shift and weekends.
I have recommended St. Mary's as a good place to work due to the friendly staff. I've recommended this hospital to others I knew who were going to nursing school. Several people I went to nursing school with now work here.
It's a pleasant, environment with room to grow. I have taken several classes offered by the hospital to become certified in stroke patient care as well as bariatric patient care – those undergoing Lap-Band or gastric bypass procedures.
