The Community Hospital promotes awareness of the causes of heart and vascular disease and works with individuals, community, and business partners to devise and implement early detection and management programs for heart disease. Educational programs are offered to help individuals understand the implications of the results and how lifestyle changes can lower that risk. For information on our current programs click here.
We offer levels of screenings at a discounted rate as part of our commitment to detect heart and vascular disease early and thus, better manage the disease process. These screenings help assess an individual's risk for developing coronary artery disease or other underlying health conditions, as well as provide educational consultations to decrease the risk of developing heart disease.
PAD Screening (Cost: $10)
Peripheral Arterial Disease refers to the accumulation of cholesterol plaque in arteries outside of the heart. This simple 15 minute screening checks for blockages in the leg arteries. A series of blood pressures are taken in the arms and legs to calculate a result. Screenings are by appointment only and held in the Phase 3 Cardiac Rehabilitation Department at Lake Business Center in Munster. Call 219-934-2830 for dates, times and to register.

This non-invasive test is fast and painless, requiring no special preparations. It is recommended for individuals with one or more risk factors for heart disease: males over 45, females over 55, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, smoking, overweight, inactive lifestyle or family history of heart disease.
