11/5/2014 - Symptoms and Treatment of Mitral Valve Disease
Mitral Valve Disease can lead to irregular heartbeat and heart failure, which may be life threatening. However, people with Mitral Valve Disease don’t always experience symptoms until it is too late. The mitral valve is located between the chambers of the heart and keeps blood flowing through the heart properly. When the mitral valve isn’t functioning as it should, blood flows backwards and the heart cannot supply the body with enough oxygen, causing fatigue and shortness of breath. Join Cardiothoracic Surgeon Bradford Blakeman, MD, Medical Director, Heart Valve Institute of St. Mary Medical Center to learn symptoms, causes, how to diagnose and treat Mitral Valve Disease.
Location: St. Mary Medical Center, Patient Tower, 1500 S. Lake Park Ave., Hobart, IN
Time: 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM
