Community Hospital Diabetes Self-Management Education has been Recognized by the American Diabetes Association for Quality Self-Management Education*. This three-part series addresses diabetes disease process, prevention and detection of complications, nutrition therapy, physical activity, medications and monitoring. We offer afternoon and evening classes.

St. Catherine Hospital Diabetes Education Classes have been Recognized by the American Diabetes Association for Quality Self-Management Education. Learn to follow a special diet, exercise and monitor glucose levels. Learn about new medication and food substitutions. A free glucose monitor is given to any patient who needs one.
A physician referral and registration is required.
Outpatient diabetes classes offered in English and Spanish by a bilingual ADA Certified Diabetes Instructor.

Location: Community Hospital Fitness Pointe, 9950 Calumet Ave., Munster, Indiana
A 4-week diabetes management program featuring exercise, advanced education, and support. Learn and experience the benefits of exercise on blood sugar control in a medically supervised setting. Basic understanding of diabetes management is recommended. $100 fee includes individual orientation and group exercise/education program.
Pre-admission criteria: Doctor referral and, based on your doctor’s recommendations, possible stress test and lab work.
