My Extraordinary Care

“A good support system can make all the difference in recovery. I feel that if I didn't go through Cardiac Rehab Phase II and III with all of the encouragement and support of the staff, I would not be here today.”

“I had a knee replacement and afterward, my heart went into cardiac arrest. Cardiologist C.R. Smith cleared two blockages in my heart. I spent a week and a half in the hospital recovering.

Two weeks later, I had another heart attack. A blood clot had formed in my knee and went to my heart after the replacement and formed a blockage. After being rushed to another hospital, the blockage was cleared and two stents inserted into the artery. Four days later, I had another heart attack.

This time, at Community Cardiology Center, Dr. C.R. Smith removed the existing stents and replaced them with new medicated stents, and my heart was back on the right track.

All the while, I knew I needed to be doing physical therapy on my knee, but found it impossible with everything that was going on with my heart.

While I was still in the hospital, I signed up for Cardiac Rehab Phase II. After I was released from the hospital, I enrolled in Cardiac Rehabilitation Phase III at Community Hospital Fitness Pointe as an outpatient, where I met Annie and Sarah and got well enough to take a trip to Egypt.

You see, I asked my wife Renee to marry me on the very first day I met her. And she laughed, but I asked her again the second time we went out and she said she would if I would take her to Egypt someday.

Forty-five years later - I kept my promise - and I took her on a trip to Egypt - visiting Cairo, Luxor and a four-day cruise down the Nile.

I want to thank all my wonderful doctors and nurses and physical therapists for their care. They helped make our dreams come true.
