WORKING YOUR NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS

If you are like many people, you will make a list of New Year's resolutions. You will start off with renewed energy and motivation and the desire to make positive changes. This year will you be successful in working consistently on your resolutions, or, will you throw in the towel after a fepilates 100w weeks or so when the newness wears off and roadblocks in life pop up?

Instead of thinking of resolutions as a "get results quick" decision, think of it as a healthy process that doesn't happen overnight, but, when done consistently will become a new lifelong behavior.  

 

The process of change requires awareness of your current behavior, what your desired outcome is, and what new behavior will you need to put into place to achieve success.

Here are a few strategies to help you jump start your 2012 Resolution:

  1. Substitute a specific goal for your resolution. Keep it specific, measureable, attainable, realistic for your lifestyle, and set a completion date to create a sense of urgency.  
  2. Change your unhealthy environment. Don't make it harder on yourself with unhealthy foods within easy grasp.   You will eat what's visible and available whether healthy or not.
  3. Be prepared for your challenges. When you know it's unlikely you won't come to Fitness Pointe after you arrive home, pack your gear and put into your car the night before and leave on your front seat so you come to work out before going home....and don't forget your healthy snack.
  4. Realize that setbacks and roadblocks are part of life. EVERYONE has them, Life is not an all or nothing arena. We all have actions that we were not happy with, but, accepting responsibility and not dooming ourselves as failures but a person who did not make the best choice at the time will lead you closer to success than failure.

Remember that behavioral change is a difficult thing to do but, the rewards in a healthier, energized, and happier you is well worth it.

The Fitness Pointe "COACH" Programs offer small group personal training at a fraction of the cost of one on one personal training.  Our COACH programs run in 8 week cycles and offer a 'drop in trial class ($15/class)' during week 9 (see attached) so you can 'try before you buy' a full session. 

Our current COACH Session (beginning January 3rd) will offer the following programs:

 

Body Transformation Workshop (BTW)

This unique program uses free-weights (i.e.dumbbells) and is a one of a kind offering for serious exercisers looking to lift weights and change their body.

 

Kettlebell Bootcamp

Get fit using one of the hottest new pieces of fitness equipment; the Kettlebell.  A unique program training the body in all planes of movement.

 

Kettle-Lates

This program gives you the strengthening and stretching of a Pilates program combined with the functional movement training of a Kettlebell workout. 

 

Pilates Allegro

The perfect way to firm and tone your muscles without heavy weights or complex equipment. Level I, Level II, programs available.

 

Pre/Post Natal Exercise

Pregnant and post partum moms receive tremendous benefits from participating in our pre/post natal exercise program.  This program integrates yoga/relaxation, aquatic exercise, as well as overall muscle toning and conditioning specifically targeting the muscles used in childbirth.  A must attend for new moms.

 

Strength Training for Women over 40 (STFW40+)

A great program for the over 40 woman looking to increase bone density, firm muscles, and improve the body's metabolism.

 

TRX  Suspension Training

Originally born as a Navy SEALS workout, Suspension Training bodyweight exercise develops strength, balance, flexibility and core stability simultaneously. It uses the TRX® Suspension Trainer™, a highly portable performance training tool that leverages gravity and the user's body weight to enable hundreds of exercises for every fitness goal.

Group Exercise News

 

New class 'Samplers' for January 2012:

R.I.P.P.E.D.

R.I.P.P.E.D-

This total body, high intensity style program utilizes free weights, resistance and body weight combined with the components of R.I.P.P.E.D:    Resistance, Intervals, Power Plyometrics and Endurance.

R.I.P.P.E.D. Instructor Team

Aqua Dance-This fun & uplifting Aqua workout will integrate dance movements choreographed to songs from many genres and time periods

Aqua Pilates-Learn to challenge stability and increase core strength using Pilates principles and exercises adapted for the water.

 

Samplers will be held during the week of January 16th. 

Schedule with class days and times will be posted.
