This year's theme is "Take Your Recovery to Heart". Cardiac Rehab teaches the skills and knowledge through exercise and education to stop or slow the progression of heart disease.

Coach's Corner
If you're bored with your workout routine, why not try one of our COACH classes. Let our credentialed personal trainers take your workouts to a new level. COACH classes offer the personalization of personal training in a small group (3-5 members) environment. COACH classes provide great motivation and initiative to help you reach your fitness goals, while trying something new.
8 week COACH programs in the areas of TRX (Suspension Training), Kettlebell Training, Bootcamp Xtreme, and Pilates Allegro Classes are available.
Next session begins March 7.

10 Ways to Love Your Heart
- Be active - AHA recommends at least 30 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity a day
- Eat smart - Enjoy a diet low in sodium, saturated and trans fats, and rich in fruits, vegetables, and fiber-rich whole grains.
- Don't smoke
- Know your numbers - Discuss with your doctor healthy numbers for your blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose and body mass index.
- De-stress - Stress can cause us to overeat, be sedentary or engage in other health-risk behaviors, like smoking. Take control of stress by meditating, writing in a journal, or going for a brisk walk.
- Maintain a healthy weight
- Evaluate your risk - Age, gender, race/ethnicity, family history and other medical conditions can all increase your risk of developing heart disease.
- Listen to your heart - When warning signs pop up, pay attention to them.
- Know the facts - Read up on heart disease.
- Follow up with your physician regularly

Benefits: Warms up the heart and lungs, expands your lung capacity, increases circulation and increases strength in the core.
How to perform the Pilates 100:
- Lie on your back while maintaining a neutral spine.
- Legs can be in a chair position (90 degree bend) or extended straight to a 45 degree angle.
- Lift the arms a few inches off the mat and pump your arms vigorously while inhaling 5 times and exhaling 5 times (10 sets total).
- The head, neck and shoulders should be lifted off the mat while looking toward your navel and keeping your abdominals engaged.

Old-Fashioned Chicken & Dumplings

Our revision of creamy chicken and dumplings uses whole-wheat flour for the dumplings and adds lots of vegetables to the filling. The delicious, satisfying results are packed with beneficial nutrients and dietary fiber, and because we don't use canned soup for the sauce, sodium levels are drastically reduced. To go even lighter, try the recipe with boneless, skinless chicken breasts.
