American Diabetes Month

American Diabetes Month is a time to raise awareness of diabetes prevention and control. In the United States, 24 million people are living with diabetes and 57 million more are at risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

Over time, if it's not controlled, type 2 diabetes can cause serious health problems like heart disease, stroke, and blindness. You may be at risk for type 2 diabetes if you:

  • Are overweight
  • Exercise less than 3 times a week
  • Are over 45 years old
  • Have high blood pressure or high cholesterol
  • Are African American, Latino, American Indian, Alaska Native, Asian American or Pacific Islander
  • Have a parent, brother, or sister with diabetes

You can do a lot to lower your chances of getting type 2 diabetes by:

  • Eating healthy.
  • Watching your weight.
  • Being active.
  • Controlling your blood pressure and cholesterol.

Eat Smart Day 

Come join in on the activities for the first EAT SMART DAY on Monday, November 14th. 


This all day event will feature interactive display tables to increase your awareness of healthy eating selections and how your food choices can affect your overall health.  To test your knowledge there will be two fun contests with great prizes.

At 10 a.m., 1 p.m., and 6:30 p.m. there will be a one hour free lecture

"Building Your Smart Eating Plan"  

by Kate Fairbairn, Certified Weight Management & Nutrition Specialist Coach.  Watch for sign-up sheets at the front desk and fitness floor desk.

This day will also be the official kick off day for the week long Healthy Food Drive.

Spa Pointe is happy to welcome two new hair stylists to our team, making it even easier to accommodate our guests. Kristen has been with Spa Pointe since last March and offers all hair and natural nail services. Niki has 12 years of experience and specializes in cutting as well as multi-dimensional color services.

Healthy Food Drive 
November 14-20


In conjunction with the Eat Smart Day, on November 14th we will be kicking off a Healthy Food Drive to support a local community food bank. Healthy donation options are strongly suggested but

we willhealthy foods accept any non-perishable food items.

There will be a donation box in the lobby area of Fitness Pointe along with one in Cardiac Rehab. There will also be a list of suggested healthy items to donate on each box for you to reference.



This drive will run from

Nov. 14 to Nov. 20.
