Community Hospital nurses donate $12,661 to Cancer Resource Centre
MUNSTER — Shelly Major, chief nursing officer at Community Hospital, presents a $12,661 check to Anthony Andello, director of the Cancer Resource Centre. During the recently observed National Nurses Week, nurses at Community Hospital created 40 baskets of various themes to be raffled. The raffle generated the $12,661 donation. The annual Nurses Week is intended to recognize nurses across the country for their service. However, nursing staff members at Community Hospital took a different approach to this special week by “giving back” through the basket fund raiser for the Cancer Resource Centre. The Centre, located at 900 Ridge Road, Suite J, in Munster, helps those affected by cancer obtain the support and resources they need to cope with the cancer diagnosis. All services, which include support groups, educational programs and networking groups, are offered to cancer patients and their families free of charge.
