Community Hospital Fitness Pointe® offers Baby & Me fitness program for parents and their babies

Mothers and their babies do low impact step aerobics during Baby & Me, an exercise class for parents and their babies, offered at Community Hospital Fitness Pointe in Munster.

Baby & Me—a program for moms and dads to exercise with their babies snug in their little “carry sacks”—is offered at Community Hospital Fitness Pointe® in Munster. The program allows parents to have fun bonding with their babies while benefiting from gentle exercise.

The class is held on Tuesdays from 11 to 11:45 a.m. Participants can enroll at anytime as the class is ongoing. The fee is $78 for 12 classes. The program is free to Fitness Pointe members. Physician release is required for post-partum mothers.

Baby & Me is a well-rounded low impact/step aerobics class with strength training and flexibility work for parents and their 6-week to 18-month-old babies. Children must be contained in a “carry sack.”

“Baby & Me helps parents ease into fitness, improve cardiovascular fitness by calorie burning and heart strengthening, and tone and firm muscles through exercise,” said Debi Pillarella, program manager for The Community Hospital Fitness Pointe. “Parents also bond with their baby while enjoying movement and music. Plus, the program offers appropriate movement and stimulating activity for the baby.”

Baby & Me staff consists of degreed and/or nationally certified fitness professionals who are also parents themselves. The program focuses on the total body well being of parents and children and provides a safe, comfortable, non-intimidating, friendly environment.
