Community Healthcare System graphic artist honored for book design

MUNSTER — Joseph Gonzalez, a graphic artist for Marketing and Corporate Communications at Community Healthcare System, has been honored for his work on the book, The Community Hospital — An Impossible Dream.

Gonzalez, a Munster resident, was recognized during the Graphic Design USA’s American Inhouse Design Awards competition earlier this year. His work on the book will be showcased at the Design Annual in July. Only 500 pieces are selected for the Design Annual, which received more than 5,000 entries.

The American Inhouse Design Awards has emerged as a premier showcase for outstanding work by inhouse designers. It is a unique opportunity for inhouse design, marketing and communications departments within corporations, publishing houses, not-for-profits, universities and government agencies to be recognized for their creativity for the special challenges they face and for their contributions to their businesses and institutions.

The Community Hospital — An Impossible Dream looks back on the dream that became a reality when The Community Hospital in Munster opened in 1973. The 300-page, hardcover, jacketed book is available for $30 at the following locations: Community Hospital’s Red Garter Gift Shoppe; the St. Catherine and St. Mary Medical Center gift shops; South Shore Arts Gift Shop in the Center for Visual and Performing Arts, 1040 Ridge Road, Munster; the Cancer Resource Centre, 900 Ridge Road, Suite J, Munster; and Borders stores in Highland and Merrillville.

The book also may be purchased online at www.comhs.org or by mail.
