Established neurosurgeons open practice in Munster

A team of three established neurosurgeons with different specialties has opened offices in Munster, Indiana and is now caring for patients at The Community Hospital.

M. Hytham Rifai, M.D., Wayel Kaakaji, M.D., and Mohamed Elnabtity, M.D., have opened offices at 800 MacArthur Blvd., Suite 11, Munster, directly across from the hospital. All are available for consultations, self referred patients, and those who are seeking a second opinion regarding surgery.

Rifai is a Diplomate with the American board of Neurological Surgery, and an assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Illinois. He received his medical degree from Damascus College of Medicine, and completed his neurosurgery internship at the University of Illinois. He specializes in minimally invasive microscopic spine surgery and cerebral vascular and neurosurgical disease.

Kaakaji received his undergraduate degree from McGill University in Montreal, Canada, and his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas. He completed an internship and residency at Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio, and his subspecialty training in Functional Neurosurgery at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland. Kaakaji specializes in treatment of back pain, complex spine surgery and brain tumor surgery. His subspecialty is in pain management and Parkinson Disease surgery.

Elnabtity received his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Mich., and his medical degree from Wayne State University in Detroit. He completed his internship and residency at the University of Arkansas for Medical Science in Little Rock. Elnabtity’s specialized training includes complex treatment of spinal disease, brain tumors, spinal tumors, and intracranial and extracranial cerebrovascular disease, as well as pediatric neurosurgery and pituitary and endocrine disorders.
