Now Hear This: Another Convenient Location for Audiology Services

If you are one of more than 28 million Americans today with hearing loss you may be missing out on important everyday information. Hearing evaluations are now being conducted by Audiology Services at another convenient location, Community Hospital Outpatient Centre in St. John.

“Our audiologists can help determine the type and degree of hearing loss through a complete diagnostic hearing evaluation in our office,” said Tricia O’Halloran, M.A., CCC-A/FAAA, supervisor, Audiology Services.

Hearing loss affects approximately 17 in 1,000 children under the age of 18. For children with hearing loss, early screening, diagnosis and intervention can make a considerable difference.

Among seniors, hearing loss is the third most prevalent, but treatable, disabling condition behind arthritis and hypertension. With advancements in digital sound processing, audiologists are able to fit patients with the highest level of digital hearing aid technology available to help improve quality of life for those with hearing impairment.

Licensed, clinical audiologists help to identify and treat newborn through older adults with hearing loss. They perform hearing evaluations, tympanometry (middle ear testing), otoacoustic emissions (OAE) and a variety of hearing aid services at this new location.

Adults and children can be evaluated Tuesdays or Thursdays from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Audiology Services department of the Community Hospital Outpatient Centre, 9660 Wicker Blvd.
