Daughters of Penelope and the St. Helen’s Philoptochos Society donate to the Community Hospital Cancer Research Foundation

The Daughters of Penelope Chapter 81 and the St. Helen’s Philoptochos Society presented an $8,000 donation this week to the Community Hospital Cancer Research Foundation, Inc., with the proceeds to benefit breast cancer research at Community Hospital.

The funds were raised with a raffle that took place Oct. 12 during the 9th annual style show and luncheon, Fashions by Candlelight, co-sponsored by the Daughters of Penelope Chapter 81 and the St. Helen’s Philoptochos Society. The monies will be used to support breast cancer research at Community Hospital, providing women with the opportunity to have access to the latest in prevention, detection and treatment of breast cancer in the community setting, close to home. Community Hospital is the only local site enrolling women in the STAR, the largest breast cancer prevention trial ever in North America.
