Community Diagnostic Center offers free screenings at health fair

MUNSTER — Cancer and heart disease are two of the region’s top health challenges and the subject of a health fair sponsored by the Community Hospital from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1 at the Community Diagnostic Center, 10020 Donald S. Powers Dr. in Munster, IN.

Fellowship-trained, Dedicated Breast Radiologist Mary Nicholson, M.D., will be available to speak with visitors and answer any questions they have related to breast health, such as imaging, cancer and fibrocystic change. Representatives from physical therapy, dietary, pharmacy and the Heart Center will also be on hand to answer questions.

Blood pressure, body mass index, diabetes risk assessment and a cholesterol risk identification questionnaire used to identify patients at risk for high cholesterol, are available to men and women. Heel bone density tests and breast cancer risk assessments will be offered to women only.

A variety of educational materials will be available as attendees tour the Community Diagnostic Center and Women’s Diagnostic Center. The newest technology in PET/CT scanning will be available for touring as well.

Attendees can register to win a Coronary Health Appraisal, heart scan, mammogram or bone density examination. All screenings are free, but registration is required by calling 219-836-3477 or toll-free 1-866-836-3477.
