Physical Therapy Wound Care
Community Hospital Physical Therapy offers multiple wound care services to aid the healing process. Whether you are an inpatient or outpatient we are here to help you. We provide various wound healing modalities and treatments that allow us to develop a personalized care plan for every wound patient. Some of these modalities include ultrasound technologies, pulsed lavage, excisional debridement, and multi layer compression wraps. We have extensive knowledge in different types of wounds including diabetic complications, venous insufficiency, arterial insufficiency, pressure ulcers, post- surgical wounds, trauma and burns. We specialize in working together with your physician to provide the best care possible for your wound. We also work closely with our other wound care services including the Wound/Ostomy Clinic and specialized wound care nurses to provide a team approach to healing wounds. Our goal is pain free expedited wound healing. Our experienced staff will help you through every avenue to get your wound healed.

Meet the Physical Therapy Wound Care Staff
Veronica (Vicki) Cohen, BS, MPT, CWS
Vicki graduated from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI in 1997 with a bachelor’s degree in Human Biology and in 1999 with a masters degree in Physical Therapy. She has been employed at Community Hospital since 1999 and started pursuing a wound care specialization shortly after. In 2005 she became a Certified Wound Care Specialist through the American Academy of Wound Management. For the past 11 years her practice of physical therapy has been focused on wound care. Her interests include diabetes and auto-immune disorders and their effects on wound healing. Other interests include implementing a multi-disciplinary approach to wound healing.
Kathleen Maloney, PT
Kathy graduated from Morton College in Cicero, Illinois in 1979 with an associate’s degree as a physical therapy assistant. She practiced as a Physical Therapy Assistant for 9 years and then in 1988 went on to graduate from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois with a bachelor’s in Physical Therapy. She has been practicing as a physical therapist for the last 23 years. Kathy has been with Community Hospital since 1990 and is currently the Inpatient Acute Care Supervisor of the Physical Therapy Department. She has interests in wound care as well as total joint replacements. She works closely with our wound care team to provide care to wound care patients in both the inpatient and outpatient settings.
Maggie Nolan, BA, MPT
Maggie graduated from Purdue University West Lafayette, Indiana in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in Health and Fitness. In 2008 she received a master’s degree in Physical Therapy from Governor’s State University in University Park, Illinois. While in her physical therapy program Maggie spent a 2 month internship in wound care. She also received thehonor of Student of the Year in Physical Therapy in 2008. Maggie has been employed at Community Hospital since 2005. Her interests include wound care and stroke rehabilitation.
