What's New at Community Hospital

ONCOLOGY CARE

Comfort for the Whole Family!

Community Hospital's Inpatient Oncology unit has been relocated into the newly remodeled fifth floor of the West Pavilion. This new unit features all private patient rooms with the latest in contemporary amenities. The move is part of the $10 million expansion to provide additional private patient rooms at the hospital. The Inpatient Oncology unit private room upgrade follows a $5 million expansion of the hospital Family Birthing Center, completed in September of 2008, which also provides all new private patient accommodations.

The hallways of the new inpatient Oncology unit on the hospital's fifth floor are awash in the soft glow of light that emits from wall sconces positioned outside each of the 26 private patient rooms. Designed to be soothing and organic, the rooms are decorated in tones of sage green, chestnut, goldenrod and cream. A comfortable sofa with built-in storage unit, desk area, sink and flat screen television are modern, upscale accommodations that complete every room. The sofa folds down into a bed to accommodate an overnight guest. The spacious, glass tiled bath area with shower rivals the comfort and convenience found in a luxury hotel.

Outpatient Oncology has been relocated to the third floor of the West Pavilion of Community Hospital. This new Outpatient unit will continue to provide chemotherapy, antibiotics, vaccines, cell growth stimulating factors and more. Blood transfusions and blood components are also offered. The Outpatient Oncology unit works to accommodate patient's busy schedules with extended hours from 7 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., seven days per week.

The former Oncology unit located on the second floor of the West Pavilion will be remodeled. It will open later this summer as a new nursing unit with all private rooms for patients who require specialized monitoring for a variety of conditions. The West Pavilion's sixth floor, which will also feature all private rooms, is expected to open in late February or early March. The public will be invited to tour the sixth floor, all-private patient room unit, in conjunction with the Open House for the new $32 million Emergency Department Pavilion on Sunday, February 8, 2009.
