Congratulations to Debi Pillarella, Exercise Program Manager, the Community Hospital Fitness Pointe.
Pillarella has been named the 2008 Heart & Stroke Victor of the Year through the American Heart Association of Northwest Indiana. She received the honor at the Go Red for Women luncheon on May 1 at the Radisson Hotel in Merrillville. Pillarella, who underwent open heart surgery in 1994 and suffered a stroke six years later before making a recovery, will spend the next year speaking at events as an advocate for the American Heart Association. She will share her experiences and words of wisdom in hopes of helping to build healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.
