Hospitals among America’s 100 Best in Multiple Specialties for 2014

Healthgrades® has recognized the hospitals of Community Healthcare System as being among America’s 100 Best in multiple specialties. Community Hospital in Munster, St. Catherine Hospital in East Chicago and St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart each earned distinctions in specific areas of clinical excellence ranging from cardiac care and cardiac surgery to stroke care, gastrointestinal (GI) care and orthopedic surgery.

When it comes to providing top-quality patient care, Healthgrades® has recognized the hospitals of Community Healthcare System as being among America’s 100 Best in multiple specialties. Community Hospital in Munster, St. Catherine Hospital in East Chicago and St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart each earned distinctions in specific areas of clinical excellence ranging from cardiac care and cardiac surgery to stroke care, gastrointestinal (GI) care and orthopedic surgery. In this latest report, Healthgrades evaluated nearly 4,500 hospitals nationwide for 31 of the most common inpatient procedures and conditions, and identified the 100 best hospitals within each procedure.

Community Hospital has been named among America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Cardiac Surgery™ and for Stroke Care™. The Munster hospital also has been distinguished among America’s 100 Best Hospitals for GI Procedures™.

St. Catherine Hospital in East Chicago has been recognized by Healthgrades among America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Cardiac Care™.

St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart has been distinguished among America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Orthopedic Surgery™, according to the Healthgrades study.

For analysis, Healthgrades evaluated approximately 40 million Medicare patient records from nearly 4,500 short-term acute care hospitals nationwide, assessing hospital performance relative to each of 31 common conditions and procedures. Healthgrades awards hospitals quality achievements for group-specific performance, specialty area performance and overall clinical quality.
