Senior manager appointed to new hospital system - McCoy

Community Foundation of Northwest Indiana, Inc. announces the appointment of David W. McCoy, CPA as Senior Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer.

In his new position, Mr. McCoy will be responsible for the financial activities of Community Foundation of Northwest Indiana, Inc. including a new multi-site medical services system known as the Community Healthcare System. The three hospitals that make up this system are Community Hospital in Munster, St. Catherine Hospital in East Chicago, and St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart.

Mr. McCoy began his career with Community Hospital in 1981 as the Director of Finance. In 1989 he became the Chief Financial Officer, responsible for Cost and Reimbursement, General Accounting, Information Technology, Managed Care, Patient Access, Patient Financial Services and Telecommunications.

Mr. McCoy has overseen the steady growth of financial systems supporting the continuous expansion and success of Community Hospital over the years. During his tenure as CFO he established many key administrative and financial policies and procedures for departments throughout the hospital. He developed systems to support managed care contracting, direct deposit payroll, timely and credible financial reporting. Mr. McCoy was instrumental expanding the hospital’s Information Technology services including linking physician offices to the hospital, and development of the Hospital’s Intranet.

Mr. McCoy received a Bachelor of Science in Business from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio in 1970 and became a Certified Public Account in 1974. He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the Illinois CPA Society, and the Healthcare Financial Management Association.
