EAST CHICAGO: The St. Catherine Hospital Auxiliary recently held its Annual Gift Presentation and Tea and presented $100,000 to various services throughout the hospital. This is the largest donation the auxiliary has made in 49 years. Each year, the auxiliary asks management to submit a “wish list” to describe what they wish they had in their departments. Most often, the request is for equipment that will make patients more comfortable during a medical procedure. Departments that benefited this year include: Cardiology, Surgery, Emergency, IMCU, ICU, Cardiac Rehabilitation, Education and the Family Birthing Center.

One of the largest single donations of $15,000 went to support the hospital’s Student Scholarship Program. Scholarships are made available to students pursing careers in healthcare who live in the primary service area of St. Catherine Hospital.
