St. Catherine Hospital to host 10th annual "Day in the Park"

St. Catherine Hospital will continue the annual tradition of caring for the community with the 10th annual “Day in the Park,” from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m., Aug. 10 at Washington Park, adjacent to St. Catherine Hospital in East Chicago.

The day-long event will celebrate family health and safety and will include a health fair with free information and screenings for a variety of health topics. Casual, fun activities and entertainment will be provided. All events are free and open to the public.

This year’s “Day in the Park” will feature free photo ID and fingerprinting for the first 150 children, back to school physical coupons, and performances by the Jesse White Tumblers, D.J. Joweto, and Siempre Caliente Puerto Rican Dance Group. Ronald McDonald will make a special appearance, and kiddie games will be provided for children.

Health screenings will offered all day. They include blood pressure screenings, non-fasting glucose, breast cancer risk assessments and vision screenings. Other events are as follows:

11 a.m. - Walk for Fitness Demonstration
11 a.m. - Noon - “Ask the Pediatrician”
11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. - Free Lunch
12:30 p.m. - Ronald McDonald
1 p.m. - Jesse White Tumblers
1:30 p.m. - Siempre Caliente
All day - Massage Therapy Samplers
All day - Kiddie Games
