Head of Indiana Hospital and Health Association to address St. Catherine volunteers

East Chicago -- Ken Stella, president of the Indiana Hospital and Health Association (IHHA) will be the keynote speaker at a luncheon on Thursday, April 21 honoring the achievements of volunteers at St. Catherine Hospital.

Stella’s talk will focus on the collective achievements of hospital volunteers across the state and how St. Catherine’s volunteers have contributed. Stella will speak specifically on the impact volunteer fundraising has had on scholarships for healthcare education as well as issues affecting healthcare. Since its inception in 1958, the St. Catherine Auxiliary has raised and awarded $135,000 in scholarship money.

Honored specifically at the luncheon will be volunteers such as Esther Nan, a charter member who has put in 14,000 volunteer hours, and Joe Kruse, a volunteer whose Employee Matching Fund Program through his employer BP Amoco, has raised $3,450 for the hospital since 1996.

The luncheon will take place at noon in the Professional Office Building Conference Room at
St. Catherine Hospital, 4321 Fir St., East Chicago.
