St. Mary Medical Center announces winner of Doula logo contest
St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart, Ind., a member of Community Healthcare System, is pleased to announce that Meghan Nussen, a student from Hobart High School, is the winner of the Doula Art Contest and $100 prize.
The doulas of St. Mary Medical Center hosted an art contest with Hobart High School students to create artwork for the doula program. The purpose was to involve the Hobart community in developing a logo for t-shirts and tote bags, and to raise awareness of the doula program at St. Mary Medical Center.
Doula, a Greek word for “mothering the mother,” refers to a woman who provides continuous non-medical emotional and physical support during labor. Her skills include relaxation and breathing techniques, positioning to reduce pain, massage and enhanced labor progress.
