St. Mary Medical Center recognizes exceptional employees
St. Mary Medical Center and Community Healthcare System have recognized the exceptional employees who have served the hospital and the community for up to 35 years. At the hospital’s 2005 Anniversary Salute and Employee Service Award Breakfast on March 15, administrative professionals from St. Mary Medical Center and Community Healthcare System honored those employees who have given many years of dedicated service and valued hours to the patients and surrounding communities of Hobart, Lake and Porter counties.
The awards ceremony began with an exceptional breakfast menu by chef Ryan Smith and the food and nutrition service staff. Highlights of the menu included the guava glazed shrimp and fruit cup, black angus steak oscar, scrambled eggs, applewood smoked bacon and other breakfast choices.
From there administration awarded employees who have served St. Mary Medical Center from five years to 35 years.
“Having been with St. Mary Medical Center and Community Healthcare System for 35 years myself, I have had the opportunity to see first hand all the good that each of you does every day for our patients and our communities. You are the backbone of St. Mary Medical Center, and we thank you for your exceptional commitment to providing good quality healthcare in the community setting,” said Milt Triana, hospital administrator at St. Mary Medical Center and a 35-year honoree himself.
St. Mary Medical Center opened in 1973. In 2001, the hospital became part of Community Healthcare System, with sister facilities St. Catherine Hospital in East Chicago and Community Hospital in Munster. In September 2004, St. Mary Medical Center opened a new $40 million patient tower, featuring state-of-the-art medical equipment and beds, private rooms and computerized charting systems, among other amenities. This, said some of the employees, is just one of the reasons St. Mary Medical Center is such a fine place to work.
