HOBART -- St. Mary Medical Center was honored Thursday, January 29th, as the 2008 Large Business of the Year by the Hobart Chamber of Commerce. The chamber cited the hospital’s exceptional support to the community through sponsorships, volunteerism, employment opportunities and outstanding contribution to the quality of life of Hobart residents through the provision of world class medical care. U.S. Representative Pete Visclosky, D-Merrillville, also attended the event and presented the evening’s award winners with a Congressional citation.

“St. Mary has a strong tradition of community support and we’re honored to receive this award and citation,” said Janice Ryba, administrator and CEO of St. Mary Medical Center. “True excellence in health care means going beyond our hospital walls to build strong business and neighborhood partnerships that are fundamental to the goals we share in building healthier communities.”
