A gift to the hospitals and related organizations of the Community Healthcare System offers health and hope to many individuals, ensuring that the highest quality healthcare services are available in our community.
We are deeply grateful to the many individuals, corporations and organizations whose generosity helped to establish the three hospitals of the Community Healthcare System. Community Hospital in Munster; St. Catherine Hospital in East Chicago; and St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart continue to operate today as not-for-profit, community-owned hospitals. Each is governed by local business and community leaders who believe strongly in our mission to provide for the well-being of the community, and serve the needs of all people, including the poor and disadvantaged.
Community support is as important today as it was when the hospitals were established. As healthcare resources become scarce and costs to acquire the latest technology grows, charitable contributions help us to expand on the services we can provide. We invite you to explore ways your gifts can change lives and make a difference in our community.
Each of the hospitals and related organizations accept tax-deductible gifts to support future and present service and equipment needs. Contributions of any amount are greatly appreciated and may be directed to a specific use. Unrestricted gifts are also helpful, providing assistance where there are inadequate funds. Gifts may be made in honor of special occasions or in memory of someone.
Along with cash, other forms of contributions including real estate, paid life insurance policies, annuities and bequests from wills or trusts can be used to benefit the health of our community. Each hospital also has established a program of Endowment Giving. Contributions to an endowment operate in perpetuity - the original gift is invested and only the earnings are used to support a designated purpose.
