We understand the importance of family and visitors in aiding in a patient's recovery. For patients recovery, safety and comfort, we ask that you be as quiet as possible in hallways and while in the patient's room. At times, visitors may be asked to leave if staff must provide care at the bedside, or if it is in the best interest of the patient. Patients have the right to choose who visits them, including, but not limited to, both different sex and same sex spouse or domestic partner, child, sibling, both different sex and same sex parents, family and friends. The patient also has the right to deny visitors at any time.

WiFi

The hospitals of Community Healthcare System provide free wireless internet service to help our patients and visitors stay in touch. It's never been easier to chat with family, share photos of newborns, conduct business or get news and entertainment while you stay at one of our hospitals.
Wireless service is available in designated areas and visitor lounges throughout Community Hospital in Munster, St. Catherine Hospital in East Chicago and St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart. Because of equipment sensitivities, this service is not available in our critical care nursing units: Intensive Care, Cardiovascular Care, Neonatal Intensive Care and Neuroscience Intensive Care.

Wi-Fi service can be accessed by any internet enabled device or equipment by connecting to the CHS InTouch WiFi wireless network. Patients and their guests need to provide their own laptops and software; no printer service is available. Service is separate from any network used to transmit patient data. Technical support for Wi-Fi users is not provided by the hospitals.
