Committed to Your Care

Our hospitals are committed to providing the safest and highest quality care to our patients. As part of our ongoing efforts to improve our service, we participate with numerous agencies to monitor and report performance.

Keeping You Safe

We are a member of the Northwest Indiana Patient Safety Coalition (NWIPSC). This group works together to make Northwest Indiana healthcare among the safest in the nation. You can find more information about the Northwest Indiana Patient Safety Coalition at

In addition, Leapfrog Group, a national advocate for hospital transparency, gave Community Hospital and St. Catherine Hospital an A grade for hospital safety, the highest possible score. The hospitals were two of only 98 hospitals in the country that received this grade. The score represents each hospital’s overall performance in keeping patients safe from preventable medical errors, accidents, injuries and infections while they are in the hospital. Preventing Infection

We participate in a program aimed at reducing and preventing hospital-acquired infections. Washing your hands is the most important thing you can do to prevent infection. We provide hand sanitizers at multiple areas in our hospitals, including convenient locations by the elevators where guests can cleanse their hands before visiting their loved ones. You can learn more about our specific infection rates at
