Weight Loss Options

More Options. More Experience. Better Outcomes.

Because everyone’s weight loss journey is different, we offer a variety of options so that our patients find the treatment plan that’s best for them. We individualize our recommendations so that patients are comfortable with their plan and ready to succeed on their road to a healthier life.

Here are more details about our approaches to weight loss:

Medical Weight Loss

Our medical weight loss options are ideal for patients who want to lose 40 pounds or less. The medical weight loss phase of the program may vary in length depending on how much weight you want to lose. This weight loss program includes education in nutrition, portion control, exercise, shopping, cooking and behavior adaptation for all of our patients. We believe that with education, you will not only lose weight, but be more likely to achieve lifelong weight management.

Intra-gastric Balloon Procedure

After a personalized evaluation by a board certified physician trained in obesity medical management, some people may be candidates for a non-surgical procedure using balloon technology. The ReShape™ Procedure is a non-surgical approach to weight loss that is proven to help people achieve and maintain significant weight loss designed specifically for patients with a BMI between 30 - 40.

Two balloons filled with salt water are temporarily placed inside your stomach and remain in place for six months, helping curb your appetite so you feel satisfied with smaller portions. The balloons are a weight loss jump-start and are only part of the process. You will receive support and personalized coaching to help you achieve your optimal weight and make the changes that will encourage a lifetime of healthy living. Most patients keep the weight off or continue to lose, even after the balloons are removed. If you do not want or do not qualify for surgery, this procedure may be a good option for you.

Surgical Weight Loss

Weight loss surgery is an effective treatment option. Our board-certified bariatric surgeons are among the most experienced in the region, and our surgical programs have earned accreditation based on their quality and successful outcomes. As part of your consultation with our surgeons, we will discuss procedures in detail and recommend the best option for you. To achieve long-term success, you will also attend classes for ongoing support and to learn how to manage your diet and prevent difficulties following your surgery.

In addition to helping patients lose weight, bariatric surgery can result in increased energy and activity levels, a sense of well-being, and improvement of weight-related health issues like Type 2 diabetes, hypertension, sleep apnea, joint/back pain, infertility and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).

Bariatric procedures offered by Community Healthcare System include laparoscopic gastric bypass surgery, gastric sleeve surgery.
