Powerful Technology, Tranquil Treatment
With the TrueBeam™ advanced medical approach, the linear radiotherapy system at Community Hospital and St. Mary Medical Center, allows doctors to tailor treatments to your specific case.
Vast evolution in radiation technology -- like TrueBeam-- has helped radiation oncologists see and treat tumors much earlier, when they are still very small. The Varian Medical Systems' technology unlocks treatment options for patients who may not have been candidates for traditional radiotherapy.
With TrueBeam™, we can choose from advanced treatments, including Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT), Intensity-Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT), and stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) to track and destroy tumors without harm to surrounding healthy tissue and healthy organs.
Faster, Smarter, More Powerful
The TrueBeam system is one of the most advanced technologies in our cancer fighting arsenal, and it is faster, smarter and more powerful than other radiation therapy systems.
Treatments that once took 10 to 30 minutes can be completed in two minutes, or less. You'll have a more comfortable experience, with less time on the treatment couch.
Fast delivery and precision opens the door for TrueBeam to treat tumors of the lung, breast, liver, prostate, head and neck. It can be an alternative to surgery in the treatment of cancer, also sends more potent radiation to the targeted site in a more accurate way.
For lung and other tumors in areas that move, TrueBeam offers Gated RapidArc® radiotherapy, which makes it possible to monitor your breathing and compensate for movement of the tumor while the dose is being delivered in a continuous rotation of the TrueBeam machine.
"TrueBeam is a real game-changer that will enable us to treat even the most challenging cases with unprecedented speed and precision,"
- Jeffrey Quackenbush, MD, Radiation Oncologist
How it Works
Before and during a treatment, the TrueBeam system therapist creates a virtual presence in the treatment room. You can be in constant two-way communication with the therapist who runs the system. Closed-circuit TVs provide comprehensive monitoring of the patient and the TrueBeam system from outside the room.
The machine is quiet. If you like, TrueBeam will play music during your treatment session, a soothing reminder of the things in life you enjoy.
