Structural Heart & Valve Center

The Structural Heart & Valve Center is a comprehensive program led by a collaborative team of interventional and structural cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons and specially-trained nurses, technicians and imaging specialists. Putting their advanced training and innovative technologies to work, this specialized team offers a broad range of treatment options to provide the best possible outcomes for patients with congenital and structural heart and valve disorders.

Our physicians are able to treat a wide variety of conditions caused by congenital or diseased heart chamber and valve abnormalities.

Minimally-invasive structural heart interventions include:

  • Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR)
  • Transcatheter Pulmonic Valve Replacement (TPVR)
  • Left atrial appendage closure using Watchman™ device for stroke prevention in atrial fibrillation
  • Percutaneous repair of paravalvular prosthetic leaks
  • Minimally-invasive treatment for both aortic and mitral valve stenosis including balloon valvuloplasty

Minimally-invasive interventions for congenital heart conditions including:

Atrial septal defects
Patent Foramen Ovale (PFO)
Ventricular Septal defects
Pulmonic valve disorders
Patent ductus arteriosus
Coarctation of the aorta

Our Team

The Structural Heart & Valve Center is led by Interventional and Structural cardiologist Hussam Suradi, MD, FACC, FSCAI, and Cardiovascular/Thoracic surgeon, Amjad Syed, MD. In addition to interventional cardiology fellowship training, Dr. Suradi has completed advanced fellowship training in structural/congenital interventional cardiology. In addition to cardiac surgery fellowship training, Dr. Syed has completed advanced training in structural heart and valve surgery. Both are backed by a highly-skilled team of medical professionals and support staff, specially trained in cardiac care.

What to Expect

Patients referred to the Structural Heart & Valve Center will undergo a thorough review of their medical records and history along with a comprehensive medical and surgical assessment. Our multi-disciplinary team works with each patient to determine the most effective treatment or procedure for his or her condition and create an individualized plan of care.

Our patient-centered approach includes nurse coordinators who provide patient education, support and important information regarding hospitals services and resources.
