Neuoscience: Diagnosis, Care, and Treatment
A multidisciplinary, comprehensive approach is vital to treating a brain injury or disorder. As every patient and their circumstance is unique, our team features a variety of experts encompassing every treatment available. Our facilities contain state-of-the-art technology needed to diagnose patients, including computerized tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), positron emission tomography (PET), and more. This―coupled with breakthroughs in neuroscience and neurosurgery―allows us to provide the specific care needed for each patient and ensure the best recovery.
Our services extend to care and rehabilitation beyond the initial treatment as well. The specialists in our neurology department collaborate with nurses and therapists for patient-focused care for those recovering from brain or spine injuries. Our facilities feature Intensive Care Units that are specialized for these patients—providing a safe, welcoming environment while also allowing visitation and support from family and loved ones.
Off-site rehabilitation centers and Home Health care are also available, and we work with physical therapists and social service professionals to provide outpatients with continued support and consultation. Additionally, we offer preventative educational programs to patients and families to help reduce the risk of further complications. The goal is both physical recovery and an improved quality of life following care, so patients can continue to live happy, free lives with their families.
Community Healthcare System has received the Gold Seal of Approval™ from the Joint Commission for our work in improving the quality of life for victims of neurological disorders. These include a seal for the Primary Stroke Centers at each of our hospitals, recognizing our record of treating and rehabilitating stroke patients, as well as the honor of having Indiana's first certified spinal surgery program.
