Ostomy Services & Treatments

Personalized Treatment, Preventive Care

The wound and ostomy care team looks at the whole picture, coordinating personalized treatment with your ongoing health care to help prevent complications after ostomy surgery.

Because the wound and ostomy care offered at each of our healthcare settings may vary, we can treat patients under one roof or refer them to care centers within the system, as necessary.

Our ostomy services include:
  • Colostomy
  • Ileostomy
  • Urostomy
  • Pre-operative education
  • Stoma marking
  • Equipment fitting
  • Post-operative education and follow-up
  • Treatment of problem stomas and peristomal skin disorders
  • Continence treatment
  • Catheter care

Our ostomy specialists at Community Healthcare system provide ostomy services ranging from diagnosis and treatment to rehabilitation and preventive education.
Together, we coordinate with physicians, surgeons, therapists, urologists, our Diabetes Care Centers and service line specialists to offer outstanding ostomy care at our system hospitals and outpatient centers.

For patients who may have other complicating factors, regular wound care for maintenance and follow-up may be needed to help reduce the potential for recurrence. For individuals who qualify, appointments may be scheduled with an advanced practice nurse.
